May Exercise Challenge update

I ended up today exactly at 1200/1800.  It wasn't quite as bad as I had feared but at the same time, I didn't get anywhere near my goal.  So, I think next month I'm going to aim a little lower and I think I'll set 1500 as my goal.

On the plus side, my head is fully back in exercise mode I think.  I'm really, really ready to bust through this plateau and start seeing some scale movement again.  I've been inspired since the pant size loss (down to size 18... not in the 20s!!!!) And I think I will REALLY be inspired if I see a number that does not begin with a 2!  This is how the scale has been for me this past month:

Yesterday, my mom joined me at the gym.  Since I did weights the day before, I just did the elliptical.  It went pretty well.  I'm amazed the difference in the one that I have at home versus the ones at the gym.  The one at home is much harder, so I think I pushed myself a little faster on the gym one.  This is how I ended up with after 50 minutes on the elliptical yesterday.  And an additional moment of silence because apparently Seymour, my favorite elliptical, is still broken at the gym.

Not too shabby.  Almost 3 and a half miles!  When I get home I decided to treat myself to a Blueberry Muffin Protein shake.  It was delicious!

I think the wifi is messed up at the YMCA that I go to so I wasn't able to watch the next episode of Doctor Who at the gym.  Instead I just listened to music that I have on my phone.  This is one of my all time favorite songs that gets me pumped up.  I love it when this song comes up on my playlist while I'm working out.  It really gets the blood flowing!

Do you have any favorite songs to work out too?  What are some of your favorites?

Hump Day update

May has been a complete cluster you-know-what.  Exercise still has been sporatic, at best.
Not exactly my best effort this month...
I did manage about 2 hours worth of yard work that I counted, even though Endomondo doesn't that happened on Saturday.  Between hauling mulch and weeding, I was sweating buckets.  I am back with the running too.  I'm up to week 3 on C25K although I am to be starting it late this week.  I'll do at least 2 days and then start fresh on either Week 4 or 5 probably starting on Tuesday.

I guess there is some good news at least.  I am down the 2.8 pounds I had gained the week before.  I'm back at 201.6 as of this morning.  That's not my lowest, but I plan on getting back on track starting today after work especially with the exercise and now that Devyn's birthday and Memorial day are out of the way.  ONEderland, you are in my sights, next week!

Oh!  I did manage another NSV this week:

My wedding ring doesn't fit on my ring finger anymore.  If my fingers shrink any more, looks like I'll be having to wear it around my neck, just like Frodo.  Sadly my ring does not make me invisible, nor is it evil.  It does have a cute little love poem written in elvish though!

RIP Buzz

Sorry I've been away lately.  This weekend has been a blur of busy combined with heartache.  Sadly, yesterday we had to put my doggie, Buzz, down.  The tumors had gotten too bad and he was starting to suffer.  Even though my heart aches, it was the right decision.  I will miss my sweet boy.

A couple of NSV's

First off, I wanted to just express how devestated I am about the horrific tornado that hit Oklahoma yesterday.  If any of my readers are in the OK area, please let us know you are safe.  You guys are in my heart and in my thoughts.

Now for the not so serious stuff, in the grand scheme of things..

I actually have a couple of Non-Scale Victories that I want to share with you.  First off, a biggie....

I've been trying on a couple of pairs of size 18 jeans that I've had in my closet for a couple of weeks now.  My size 20s were getting roomy, even though they still technically fit.  Saturday morning I put a pair on and ... voila!  A little snug but not uncomfortable!

Size 18 jeans!!!
And next up, is something I'm really proud of.  Longest streak ever!  Usually I give up on the whole diet/exercise thing around the 90 day mark.  As of today, I've doubled that!
Longest streak ever!

Oh, I started back running regularly on Saturday and then again this morning.  I did W1D1 on Saturday and thought I could give W2D1 a try this morning.  I did fine with both.  I may round out the Week 2 just for this week to keep that up.  So far so good, I apparently really do need the structure for some reason.   Either that or a drill instructor in the morning yelling at me to run when I'm not following the C25K....

Saturday we went to Lafayette to visit some friends and watch the new Star Trek movie.  We had a great day and the movie was awesome!  I'm not a huge trekkie (I've always been more of a Star Wars girl) but we all really did enjoy the movie.  Plus it had the amazing, Benedict Cumberbatch in it.  Worth it!  We're probably going to try to catch an imax showing of it this weekend.  After the movie, we went back to our friends house and played some Munchkin for the rest of the night!  Chris also through around the topic of getting back to playing some Dungeons and Dragons so we tossed that around and I think we're going to do it!  That will be fun!

Exercise challenge update - 679/1800  Wow, no where near gonna reach that goal this month.  Hoping I can squeeze out at least an even 1000 at this point.

And just because I love you all, here's a giant metal toad, for no apparent reason.  :)

Running (or lack thereof)

I just posted a comment about this on my friend's Basically Run! blog.  And I've been tossing and turning about this for a while now.  I HATE to run.  No, not really, I think what I mean is that I hate trying to motivate myself to run.  I love how I feel during and after but that inital step out the door is the hardest.  I always get distracted (It's too hot out, too boring, etc...) and then get on the elliptical or walk or something/anything except running.  I've come to the conclusion that I really cannot rely on myself to stick with a running schedule unless I am following a structured plan.

So.... I'm going to restart the C25K program and then move on to B210K I think.

I may not start at Week 1, because I have actually been running, albiet not consistantly.  I'll just see how it goes that first day and what I feel like I can handle.

Back when I first started the C25K program, I didn't "think" about it.  I just went out and did it.  I really believe that I need to get back to that.

So very true...
So, I'll be restarting tomorrow morning before we leave to visit friends.  (I'll probably need the extra calories burned anyway).  My plan is to do this and at least 30 minutes on the elliptical tomorrow morning.

Wednesday Update

Well I was *hoping* that I would hit the big number today.  But considering how my last week has been I was really expecting more of a gain than I had.  I think staying on point the last few days has erased some of the damage I did toward the end of last week with the eating and not exercising.  Still today's Weigh In was not nearly as bad as it could have been.  Last week was really THAT bad.  Between a not very welcome visit from a monthly "friend" and then just stress dealing with refinancing our house and some other issues that came up, I wanted to eat everything in sight!

And this would have been my theme song last week:

But, alas, so far this week I've turned things around a bit.  I'm doing better already on the exercise front and eating.  Next week just HAS to be the week.  I'm determined!   This mythical number has been such a huge goal for me.  Its almost such an incredible goal that its hard to imagine that I am on the cusp of achieving it.  Its "THE BIG ONE".  Its been rare in my life that I have actually set a goal and followed through enough to see it accomplished.  So this is a fairly big deal for me I think.

We've got a pretty awesome weekend coming up.  Chris and I will try to knock out our weekly grocery shopping Friday and then Saturday we will be spending the day with some friends in Lafayette and will also go see the new Star Trek movie.  Pretty excited about it for this non-Trekkie here.  I was always more of a Star Wars girl but Chris is full on Trek-nerd all the way.  Ah, the things we do for love.  :)   Seriously though, I did enjoy the last movie and I do like to watch ST:TNG.  Sunday we are getting together with my mom and dad and having a belated Mother's Day lunch.  Should be fun!

And CUMBERBATCH!!! Ah, his cheekbones will be in glorious 3D!

May exercise update -

417/1800 UGH.   I'm way way behind where I expected myself to be here.  :(  Don't think I'm going to hit my target goal this month.

6 Month Progress Update!

Highest weight 244.4

Current weight 200.8

TOTAL LOSS (so far) ---  43.6 pounds

Measurements:
  • Waist - (Starting) 49.5     (Current) 45 = 4.5inches lost
  • Hips  - 55.5     50 = 5.5 inches lost
  • Bust - 49     44 = 5 inches lost
  • Left Calf - 17     16 = 1 inch lost

Major accomplishments for me:
  • I have not had one single sip of anything soda related since November 7th
  • I have maintained an average of 4 days exercise each week since then.
  • All food (both good and bad) and exercise has been logged and accounted for in My Fitness Pal
  • Ran in two 5Ks
  • Just the fact that I can run now, is also an accomplishment!
Exercise Minutes update - I feel I haven't put forth my best effort there.  I'm only at 246/1800 for the month so I need to kick things in gear there.  Running has been practically non-existent since The Color Run so I really need to get back to that at least twice a week, although I did eek out about 8 minutes last night.

Now for the pics....

I seriously cannot wait until my double chin goes away.  And my lopsided boobs.  (sigh)

So in the next 6 months, I'd like to use this as my next goal...

The lie on my Drivers License says 160.  So 40.8 more pounds to go to attain that one.  Onward and downward.  Hopefully by next posting I will be in ONEderland!

Throwback Thursday

I've seen a few blogs do this so I thought I'd share a few oldie pics of me.  It's been "interesting" going back and choosing these pics to see how much I've changed.  Oh to be so young and foolish and not care what I eat!

I'll try to go in date order here.  1st pic is me in 4th grade.  Pretty sure I was the skinniest one on the team.  I was premature as a baby, so I was actually always behind everyone growing up and was quite skinny and gangly.

The next series of pics are from me in High School, circa '88-'92.  I distinctly remember wearing a size 0 Freshman year.  The pic of the TWIRP dance, I was in a size 3.
I'm in the middle

In the very center again.

Now we come to the ex-husband era.  Notice I'm still relatively skinny here.  I guess being miserable did wonders for my figure.

Now the Chris era.  Happiness and just contentment so the pounds just piled on.

Looking at these just makes me more determined to get back to where I was.  I can absolutely say without hesitation that I never, ever will go back to this again:

Playing catch up from last week and a new month

Good morning everyone!

Slow and steady once again with the scale.  Hopefully that means maybe I'll see a whoosh next week. Only down .4 of a pound this week but hey, it's still a loss, I suppose.  Can't complain too much about it.  That puts me at a solid 3 pounds away from ONEderland.  (and that reminds me that I need to revise my goal a bit since I didn't quite hit the mark before my physical).

I haven't been around the blogosphere much this week and honestly I haven't been exercising much either.  I think I went last Thursday, skipped Friday, weeded my mom's flowerbed for about 2 hours Saturday and haven't done anything much since then.  I have no excuse either on the exercise front.  Just feeling lazy I suppose.  My elbow has been causing a great deal of pain.  But the good news is that I did go see the doctor on Monday.  She gave me a steroid shot and some pain meds.  My initial plan was to do maybe just some walking on Monday after the appointment but once I started taking the meds, I got really nauseous.  That is an unusual reaction for me as I have taken them before and never had a problem.  Maybe its because I'm getting older, who knows.  Needless to say, I've spent the better part of the last 2 days half relaxing and half slumbering on the couch.  I'm back at work today and decided not to take any more of the pain meds.  I already feel loads better and the elbow pain is mostly gone.  I still feel twinges every now and again.  I'm still also wearing the brace and the doc wanted me to lay off picking anything up for at least a week.

And since I've been a slug on the exercise front, I've decided that I will publicly plan on exercising at least 1800 minutes this month.  Having that goal usually works well for me and since it's relatively easy to track, I just needed to put it in writing.   I'll update througout the month as I blog and we will see how I do come the 31st!

Who else is excited to go see Iron Man 3 this weekend?  I'm so excited that summer movies are here!

***********************
Ok so I've decided to make this an offical(ish) challenge.  Send me a facebook message or an email if you are interested in the exercise minute challenge of what you plan to exercise this month.  Send updates each Wednesday and then the final one will be on May 31st.  Hopefully this is just something that will get us all moving!
