Weekend Recap

We had a pretty good weekend!  A good mix of fun, exercise and relaxation.

Friday

I managed almost a mile and a half on my lunch break, but I knew I wanted to do at least 3.14 for Pi Day so after work, I attempted to do that.  I missed the screen shot by like a second.  Ah well.  (And don't be fooled by that pace, I need to actually set it to average pace.  - I can't even run that pace, much less walk it! LOL)

After my walk, Chris got home from work and we decided to pick up some food from a local Mexican restaurant and go home and eat so we did.  It was delicious!  We ate and watched "American Hustle".  The movie was great but I didn't quite think it was Oscar worthy.  Chris disagrees, he thinks it was.  Ah well, either way we both did enjoy it.  We love a good con movie!

Saturday

Chris and I attended our tennis clinic (doubles class) and there was only about 2 other ladies there for the class.  We finally feel like things are clicking there so I'm really excited for this Tennis Apprentice program that starts tonight.  On my part, shots were doing what the were supposed to and we did an actual Doubles Game simulation towards the end and were playing out points.  Chris and I actually won a point/game.  (Trust me when I say this is big news.... for us anyway lol)

Side note, I don't think that calorie burn is accurate.  There is a lot of starting, stopping, waiting around, and flubbed shots going on so with whatever Endomondo says as far as calorie burn for that hour and a half, I'm basically cutting it in half to gauge my calorie burn.  That "feels" more accurate.

The rest of Saturday was groceries, and other errands.  Saturday night Chris was determined to finish his game of Infamous 2 so that was fun for me.  /ahem.

Sunday

Sunday we woke up and I got some house cleaning done and knocked out laundry early and then we sat on the couch pretty much for the rest of the day.

We finished Series 1 of Being Human and then played some Lego Avengers until time for TWD and Cosmos.

I'll refrain from commenting on TWD because of "Spoilers"(as River says..) but I will say this.  That was the single most disturbing hour of television that I have ever watched.  OMG.  Oh the feels!

So there you have it.  The weekend of an almost 40-something and another actual 40-something.  Boring eh?  Yep, just like we like it!

How was your weekend?  Did you do anything fun?  Did you remember to wear your green yesterday?

  1. Great weekend, Des!

Have you ever thought about getting a heart rate monitor?? It would save you from having to guess what kind of calorie burn you're getting. I have a Garmin (GPS and HR) and it was a bit pricey (around $175), but my sister didn't want/need a GPS and went with the Polar F4 Heart Rate Monitor. She loves it and it was only around $50 or 60 on Amazon.

Getting a HR watch has been a really big game changer for me. When I used Runkeeper, I had NO idea the amount of calories I was actually burning.

Oh, and onto The Walking Dead.... oy vey. I. Have. No. Words.

    1. You know, I actually do need to look into one of those. Do they all still have the chest strap thingy? That's the only reason I'm hesitant about getting one. I do need to do a bit of research and see what they have out there.

      Re: TWD... I know right?!?!?!?

  2. Oh man, I love that you quoted River song.

I don't watch TWD simply because I know how it would just break my heart. I need happy endings. I can handle sad stories (ie vincent and the Doctor) as long as there's happiness in there, you know. TWD doesn't have much happiness.

Sounds like you had a good weekend. Hubs and I both agree with you about American Hustle. It was an enjoyable movie but I don't see how anyone was nominated for an Oscar in that one. I absolutely LOVED the costumes, t hough. And of course I loved Mr. Renner.

    1. You are most definitely doing the right thing by avoiding TWD then. There is not much joy in the zombie apocalypse that's for sure!

Renner was fantastic in that movie! I can't get over Christian Bale's "transformation". ICK! LOL Ellen was spot on during the Oscars (I think it was..) when she said that movie was about an explosion in a wig factory! LMAO!

  3. Oh jeeeeesh I am so nervous about TWD!! Ack...I need to watch it soon. Also great job on the tennis and the 3.14 miles!! Lol oh Pi day. Since I work on a nerd campus our kids write the digits from pi on the sidewalks all around campus on pi day...have a pi(e)-throwing contest @ their professors, and get free pi(e) on the quad. Yeah, it's pretty awesome.

  5. Let's see...Saturday - Wild Chicken Festival, sight seeing, errands, shopping, Sunday - drove to FLA in the pouring rain, took FIL to the Mayo clinic. Monday sat at the Mayo clinic all day and drove back last night IN THE RAIN ugh...but the surgery went well.
My FIL is a pastor and one of his members was having cancer surgery. All went better than expected and full recovery is expected.
    Food, yuck
    Exercise, not much

ON A HAPPIER NOTE: you are nominated for a Liebster award, read about it on my blog today :)

    1. If you love watching shows about zombie killing and rich characters, then yes it is a wonderful show!

Yea, I'm been very hyper cautious about my feet. First sign of trouble, laying off! Trust me.... *fingers crossed!*

  7. so glad to have found your blog, I love finding fellow geeks and you look fantastic. My poor fiance is itching for me to get into tennis playing with him but since I know nothing about it I have always said no because I don't want to look like a fool in front of other random players lol Never crossed my mind to take classes!! Definitely something to think about!

  9. Yay! It sounds like you're really back into the swing of it! I am not a Walking Dead watcher, I think I really just don't have the room on my viewing plate (also, my capacity for WTF moments has been used up by Game of Thrones.)

  12. I sat through my Hubs watching TWD (even though I hate the show, because of my unreal fear of zombies, I felt uncomfortable almost the entire way through) and damn, that was an intense episode!
