NSV

NSV's have been so few and far between for me lately and I desperately need them now since the scale is quickly becoming my mortal enemy.  I also feel like sometimes I'm grasping for them.   Case in point this pic:

Same shirt, roughly 6 months later.  I wore this shirt a few days ago and it seems a little bit slimmer.

Maybe I am grasping but I really need something positive since the scale is evil!

Tennis backhand clinic is tonight so this will be the first time since Saturday that I'll get to play!  Pretty excited about that.  Also the plan is to hit the gym and do weights before too.

I'm also toying with the idea of getting Chris to hide the scale.  I haven't completely decided to do this yet but it will depend on what it says next Wednesday.  I'm pretty much feeling like the scale has been an albatross hanging around my neck.  Maybe if I can shift the focus back to my eating and my exercise and not dwell on it, maybe, just maybe I can free myself of this plateau.  Maybe I can even hold off until my birthday (40th coming up in July - ACK!).  So I'll have a few days to think on this if I want to do it or not.  What do you guys think?  I feel like I'm a broken record with being between 186-192 since August and I know y'all are tired of me complaining about it.

Oh!  I did also hit the 100 day streak milestone of logging in MFP last week!  So yay!  Another NSV!

  1. Great NSVs! I've been so bad with catching up on blogs I love, but you look amazing!! Such a difference since the last time I visited! That's a great MFP streak too!

    1. Thanks, I see the difference in my face but not so much in the middle. Maybe a little but I guess it's not as obvious to me!

  3. I see it in your jawline and in the waist tapering.
and I'm jealous of your streak on MFP, I got to 108 and missed and then this week I missed again when I running around with the house stuff. Good for you!!

I actually feel less pressure and negativity now that I'm not weighing myself so often. I gauge my feelings on how I wake up that day, not a number (which is a very bad habit of mine)

    1. Thanks! Oh man that stinks about your streak. I actually got a little over a year last year and then BAM, lost it at around 375 day mark. I was soooo upset!
That is a wonderful attitude to have! I do find myself and my mood all hinges on the stupid number like you said. I need to rectify that.

  4. The shirt does indeed look slimmer! I can see the loss on the top of your legs and, in your face too! Hiding the scale is good to do!

  6. It's so hard to see changes in ourselves, but they are there for sure! I can see it.

Here's my thing with the scale...we all know it's not the only factor in determining how we are doing and it's such a fickle creature. I don't think it does any good to weigh every day...once a week is good..BUT you need to make sure you do it the same time every day with the same circumstances, which can be hard. I usually try to not eat before my meeting on Tuesdays, but there is the odd time I am too hungry not to...on those nights I can gain 2 lbs just from the food in my stomach

    Great job!

    1. Yea, that's why I'm thinking of just moving it or getting hubby to hide it. I don't seem to have the discipline to not weigh in if it is there. I do it instinctively every single morning when I wake up.

  9. There is definitely a difference in how that shirt fits you, and I also see a difference in your face. Great work, Des!!!! I say if you feel like it'll help, hide that stupid scale. Maybe try it for just a couple weeks, and see how you feel and then go from there.

  10. You can tell the difference in that shirt! You totally aren't grasping. Your whole midsection is slimmer!

And I know everyone is different... but I find if I take away the scale I take away a huge accountability tool for me. Remember, it doesn't mean you aren't gaining ground if you don't loose. Could you do measurements too? I know that was a huge motive for me around the holidays when my weight wasn't budging but my body WAS changing. I hope you do what's right for you, though!

    1. Yea, I usually do measurements about once a month. I think the scale thing won't be a problem. The motivation is definitely there for me (for once!) LOL

  11. Definately see a difference, a general slim down but especially at the waist.

I hear you on the frustrations on the plataue!!!!!! As for the scale I have been without one pretty much since Christmas and I think I need th accountability of those little numbers!

Oh and awesome streak on mfp!

Yea, I'm going to play it by ear with the scale and maybe only weigh once a month.

  12. These are two awesome nsv's!!! You are doing great! Keep logging your food, and exercising, and the weight will follow!! Don't give up girl!! I am afraid if I stopped weighing myself, I'll lose focus. But I can tend to overdo it--like weighing 3-4 times a day--I need to cut that out:)

    1. Yea, I can definitely understand that. I'm thinking that maybe I should back down to only weighing once a month.

  13. Ooooh I can surely see a difference in those pics, you're definitely not grasping there!

I think maybe hiding the scale is a good idea. You could still maybe check in with your measurements, or maybe weigh in every 2 weeks--but I think you're right, taking the focus off of that for a bit might help bust that plateau. You look awesome!

  14. I say take the NSV's where you can get 'em! Good for you!
